About Us

Betty's Wig Boutique began in 1968 and has since become a Davenport tradition. Betty Goodworth moved from California to Davenport, Iowa after owning a successful Beauty Salon called the Trop-I-Cal Beauty Salon in Loomis, California. Wigs were becoming increasingly popular during this time. After moving to Iowa, Betty purchased an older business in downtown Davenport called Sybil's Hats. Her new store was the perfect vehicle for Betty to use her salon experience and combine it with her love of hats and style. She had a special gift of treating all people with love, respect, and compassion. She was also well suited to helping people who were suffering from hair loss.

After 20 years, many of the businesses located in downtown Davenport began moving to new shopping malls. Betty's Boutique found a new location on Locust Street and Marquette in the city of Davenport. She prospered at this location for another 20 years. In addition to selling hats and wigs, she also added jewelry and clothing. In time, Betty's daughter-in-law and granddaughter joined the business.

Betty's flagship store moved once more when St. Ambrose University decided to add more parking to their campus. Betty's Wig Boutique needed to establish a new location in the Village of East Davenport. The new location is easy to find and has its own private parking lot.

Private or open styling stations are available to experience  the largest collection of wigs in the Quad Cities. As a family run business starting with Betty, placing the customer first has always been our mission. To better support our Iowa City customers, we have now added a new  location near downtown Iowa City.
